SETTING UP EMAIL ON A PC

The basic email set-up for PCs is the same no matter what software you are using. Windows Mail and Outlook, the two most common “apps” or “software” or “programmes” or “mail client” etc. requires you know the following:-

Name : This is your Name or Job Title , Position etc.

Username : This is your FULL email address you are setting up.

Password : your Password

PROCEDURE :

Open your chosen Mail Programme (app). We are using Outlook as the example.

In Outlook, choose the File tab
Under ‘Account Information’, choose Add Account
On the Auto Account Setup page, enter your name, email address, and password, and then choose
Next: Choose Finish.
A short test will now be performed automatically and if successful..

MANUAL SET-UP

Situation:- You are not using Outlook and need to fill out the boxes manually. You will need the following information :-

First a word about POP3 and IMAP.

IMAP vs POP3

There are two kinds of email.

Typically one kind where all email is stored online and you look at it using a phone or computer. This is called IMAP email.

The other kind downloads email every time you log into your email account. This is called POP3 email.

Both types can have exceptions to these rules, but this is what are were designed for. There is only one mailbox online which can server either protocol.

We suggest you use IMAP email if you to wish use multiple email devices. The down-side is that your mailbox will gradually fill up, eventually being full at 10GB and unable to receive any more email. To avoid this .. You should clear out ALL your folders of extraneous and unnecessary emails on a regular basis.

You are free to use POP3 if you prefer, where your email is downloaded to the connected device immediately, leaving nothing on the mail-server. Your 10GB mailbox will never run out of email space so long as you log in reasonably regularly.

SETTINGS

Account type: IMAP
Incoming mail server: imap.stackmail.com
Outgoing mail server: smtp.stackmail.com
Incoming server port (IMAP): 993
Use the following type of encrypted connection: SSL
Outgoing server port (SMTP): 587
Use the following type of encrypted connection: TLS

When setting up your account, please choose More Settings > Outgoing Server and check the box for ‘My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication’.

If you experience any problems with the connection or receive a certificate warning, please disable SSL/TLS encryption and change the incoming server port to 143.

You can also set up the account using POP3, in general though please remember that emails will be downloaded to the mail client when you connect to the mail server.
